Fire Control Bylaw 2014

The Fire Control Bylaw seeks to control burning in the open air and prevent nuisance caused by smoke from outdoor fires. The Council maintains the bylaw with Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) now having responsibility for setting fire restrictions and issuing permits. The Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has responsibility for discharges to air which may cause air pollution. Consents may be required from the Regional Council for open fires.
