City Wide Reserve Management Plan

Parks, reserves and sportsgrounds are special public spaces and we want to know how you use them, and how you think we should manage and protect them for future generations.

Parks, reserves and sportsgrounds are special public spaces and we want to know how you use them, and how you think we should manage and protect them for future generations.

We have over 700 hectares of parks, reserves and playgrounds that are owned and/or managed by Napier City Council, everything from destination attractions down to pocket sized parks, with special features from gardens to playgrounds, sports fields to shady spots to relax in.

We need your help to guide how we look after them in the future.

We are creating a new City Wide Reserve Management Plan to enable us and the community to work together to establish the balance between use and protection for these spaces. It will set in place the policies of how they will be used, managed and developed to protect and enhance them.

The plan will ensure that parks, reserves and sportsgrounds are managed consistently, and that their natural, recreational, historical and cultural values are protected. Your input will help us draft a plan. We will bring that draft plan back to you for further consultation before it is finalised.

Closing date for feedback is 5pm, Monday 18 July 2022.
