Policy review of locations where psychoactive substances can be sold

Council cannot stop the sale of approved psychoactive substances but it can restrict the locations of premises that sell these products.

Our current policy says that these premises cannot be within 300 metres of each and they cannot be located within 100 metres of ‘sensitive communities’.

We have reviewed the policy and our proposal is to stay with the current policy but to describe the term ‘sensitive communities’ so it is very clear.

The proposal is for the policy to describe sensitive communities to include any existing area where vulnerable members of our community congregate and where sensitive communities are located, and includes childcare centres, schools, libraries or places of worship.
