To enable Council to postpone the payment of rates in certain situations where a large number of ratepayers are affected.
Proposed changes to our Rates Postponement Policy will in some cases mean ratepayers can delay their rates without penalty. The proposal would also allow Council to postpone rates in situations like natural disasters, where a large number of ratepayers are affected.
Council is also wanting to increase the number of ‘officers’ able to sign off on certain applications. We are also seeking to extend who is able to apply on behalf of a ratepayer in certain circumstances.
