Consultation for proposed changes to Revenue & Financing Policy

The draft Revenue and Finance Policy contains new proposals to ensure there is equity and consistency in how rates are charged - to ensure that similar properties pay similar rates.

Revenue & Financing Statement of Proposal

From 12 October to 15 November, we are consulting on several policies that affect your rates.

The draft Revenue and Financing Policy contains new proposals to ensure there is equity and consistency in how rates are charged - to ensure that similar properties pay similar rates. If our proposals are adopted, most ratepayers will see a small decrease in their rates, but some will see an increase.

There would not be an increase in the total amount of rates that NCC collects. Rather, the proposed changes would alter how much each individual property pays. Our proposals reflect changes that have taken place over time as Napier has developed. The proposals are not related to Council’s annual consideration of across-the-board rates increases.

Use our rates calculator to compare your current rates calculation with how it might look if our proposals are adopted.

Alongside the Revenue and Financing Policy consultation, we are also consulting on amendments to other policies that are affected by those proposed changes. These policies are:

Revenue and Financing Policy

Rating Policy

Rates Remission Policy

Rates Postponement Policy

Statement of Proposal

Community sessions:
