Submarine Pipeline Protection

Napier City Council, Hastings District Council and Pan Pac Forest Products Ltd are jointly applying to protect their wastewater pipelines. Have your say on the application.

Napier City Council, Hastings District Council and Pan Pac Forest Products are jointly applying for protection areas above their ocean-based wastewater pipelines under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996.

Protection areas aim to prevent future damage to these pipelines and enhance each organisation legal protection of their wastewater pipelines.

The Ministry of Transport (the Ministry) invites you to submit on the proposal and would appreciate hearing your views on the effects such an order, under section 12 of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996, may have.

Should you wish to discuss this matter with the Ministry, please contact either Felicity Thurston email: f.thurston@transport.govt.nz or Paul Fistonich: email: p.fistonich@transport.govt.nz.

Before giving your feedback, please note that the joint application relates to the establishment of protection areas for the ocean-based wastewater pipelines. It does not relate to the management, treatment, or disposal of wastewater.

Submissions close on 7 June 2022 at 5pm.
